Bike More Challenge Starts Tomorrow!

The Bike More Challenge is a month-long, friendly competition between friends and coworkers that encourages people to drive less and bike more. Participants form teams and on May 1 begin recording how many miles they ride for chances to win prizes. At the end of the month scores are tallied and prizes are passed out at an awards party the first week of June.

Remember, every ride counts! Log your rides to work, to the store, or for fun. Earn even more points by encouraging other people to get on a bike and ride!

Register yourself or your team at bikemorechallenge.com. You can log your trips online or connect an app to automatically sync your trips. If you participated last year, simply log in, verify your registration for the 2019 Challenge, and answer a short survey.

Visit their website for more information and riding tips or email your questions to bikemore@thestreettrust.org.

Join Go Lloyd for a group ride to Eb & Bean on Friday, May 10! Meet at Hassalo Plaza at noon and don't forget to log your ride.

February 21st is Transportation Trivia Night!

Oregon Friendly Driver Class

In partnership with The Street Trust, there will be an Oregon Friendly Driver Class held during lunch in the 3rd floor conference room of the Lloyd 700 Building.

The Oregon Friendly Driver program is a free 90-minute interactive class aimed at educating all drivers on the best and safest ways to share the road with people getting around on foot or by bike. These classes are taught by The Street Trust’s education staff and organized in partnership with Commute Options and the Lane Council of Governments. This class is based on the Bicycle Friendly Driver program developed by FC Bikes in collaboration with Bike Fort Collins.

The Oregon Friendly Driver class addresses:

• Why sharing the road is the safest alternative for both motorists and bicyclists

• What’s legal and what’s not legal for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians

• Common crashes and how to avoid them

• Why bicyclists “take the lane” and what motorists should do in response

• How to navigate bicycle and pedestrian related infrastructure such as: sharrows, bike boxes, green lanes, and rapid flashing beacons

Fall Fender Frenzy

Fenders make riding a breeze in the rainy Portland fall and winter. They protect your feet from falling rain, road slush, and oily spray, while your bike and accessories stay clean. This fall, get discounted fenders installed for free, thanks to Go Lloyd!

FENDER SELECTIONS

Each fender style ranges in size. You’ll need to know your wheel size, such as 26 inch or 700c, and the width of your tire to make sure the fenders are compatible. To find your tire size, look for two numbers on the sidewall of the tire (700 x 28, 26 x 1.5).

If your bike frame isn’t built to mount fenders, clip-on fenders will be your best option.

Need help on deciding which fenders are right for you? We can help! Go Lloyd and Left Coast Bicycles will provide free fender consultations on October 9th. Stop by the Lloyd Cycle Station from 9 am-5 pm or the Lloyd Farmers Market from 11 am-1 pm for a consultation. We’ll order discounted fenders for you, and help you schedule an appointment to have them installed for free.

Order your fenders by October 12th for free installation. Installation day is November 6th from 11 am-2 pm. Please pay for your fender order at Go Lloyd’s Transportation Store by November 5th.
