Celebrate BIKETOWN’s 10th Birthday by Taking Part in a Guinness World Record!
In honor of the 10th birthday of BIKETOWN, the Portland Bureau of Transportation is putting on a large-scale (in fact – the largest) e-bike ride, in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for largest e-bike ride. The current record is held by Seattle in 2018, with 405 e-bikes.
The ride will begin at Salmon Springs, the fountain in Tom McCall Waterfront Park at 8:30am on Sunday, July 19. This will be a slow-paced, beginner-friendly ride designed for anyone and everyone to join! Personal e-bikes are included, as well as pedal bikes (however only e-bikes will be counted toward the record). The ride will end at Naito Parkway and SW Salmon, where an official Guinness World Records judge will be there to see if the record was broken. After the ride, head down to the Portland Pride Parade, where the first 1,000 people who register for the bike ride will receive free entry to the parade! Registration is strongly encouraged to ensure you are counted in the record.
