NE Broadway Community Walk

On Tuesday, November 8th, Go Lloyd was invited to participate in a site visit along NE Broadway with business owners, the Lloyd Community Association (LCA), and staff from the City of Portland’s new Public Environmental Management Office (PEMO). The boundaries of the Lloyd Enhanced Service District, and the three Lloyd-specific nonprofit organizations, end just before Broadway, leaving a gap in services at the north of the district. Businesses along NE Broadway face the same difficulties as those in Lloyd, Downtown, and city-wide: cleanliness, safety, and vandalism.

The group walked from business to business to speak with managers and owners about the main issues their stores face. With the momentum of these organizations and engaged community members, there are many solutions available to support our neighbors on NE Broadway. Potential solutions discussed on this visit include installation of murals with anti-graffiti coating, adding tree lighting, and connecting with local social service providers to assist individuals in crisis in the area.

Together, we will be able to pool our resources and improve the vitality of the NE Broadway retail corridor. Go Lloyd is pleased to be part of the conversation and is looking forward to making continued improvements with LCA, PEMO, and the NE Broadway community.
