Join Albina Vision Trust for the Lower Albina Block Party, a community celebration taking place alongside the Good in the Hood Festival. Presented by AVT and Colas Construction, this year’s theme, “Reclaim the District,” honors the cultural legacy of Portland’s Black community in Albina and the ongoing effort to shape the future of Lower Albina.
The day begins with a community repainting of the Emergence of Joy street mural in front of Albina One. Originally created to welcome the first families back to Lower Albina in more than 40 years, the mural symbolizes joy, return, and possibility. Community members of all ages are invited to help refresh the artwork and contribute to this shared expression of art, memory, and community.
The block party begins at 12 p.m. and includes:
Live performances
Family-friendly games and activities
Local vendors and community organizations
Interactive art and cultural activations
Held just blocks from Lillis-Albina Park, the event is part of a broader weekend celebration that connects the parade, festival, and neighborhood gathering spaces, creating an opportunity to experience Albina as a living and connected district.
