Lloyd PARK(ing) Day 2023

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Lloyd PARK(ing) Day event! Go Lloyd collaborated with the Lloyd EcoDistrict and The Street Trust to take over three parking spaces on NE 9th Avenue and NE Multnomah Street. With the intention of rethinking how street space is used by giving it back to people, instead of cars, we set up a mini dog park, shady public seating, portable trees, community coloring activities, plus coffee and snacks. The corner, near Lloyd Center’s plaza, was brought to life by artwork donated by Mike Bennett, and Becca from the delightful Department of Public Dance, who danced across the crosswalk with passersby between noon and 1 PM.

Lloyd residents have often expressed interest in having dog-friendly public green spaces, which inspired the mini dog park and doggy spa theme (check out this pooch’s painted nails below!). Many Lloyd neighbors and their pups stopped by to take a break and learn about PARK(ing) Day and the important work of our three organizations. Go Lloyd was honored to welcome Congressman Earl Blumenauer to our event and represent the neighborhood. We also had guests from Bike Loud, Parking Reform Network, and the City of Portland. The Street Trust brought their e-bike (available for rental) for people to safely test ride, and Bike Loud showed off their new bike lane sweeper.

We so loved the community atmosphere and sharing our love of active, sustainable, accessible transportation with our guests! See you at next year’s PARK(ing) Day!
