Party on, Portland! in Holladay Park

Last Saturday’s Party On, Portland! (POP) event in Holladay Park was a huge success! Go Lloyd was happy to engage with many new and familiar faces throughout the event—over 400 guests joined us! We enjoyed the live music by the band, 24/7, and were entertained by balloon artists, hula hoopers, and tall bikes! Kids played in the fountains, drew chalk, and toured a firetruck. Go Lloyd was honored to join multiple organizations sharing active transportation resources and information, including BIKETOWN, Bike Loud PDX, and Earth Bicycle Service. Timothy, the bike mechanic from Earth Bicycle Service, provided free tune-ups and repairs sponsored by Go Lloyd. He even got a few wheelchairs moving smoother! We loved seeing him improve the mobility and accessibility of Lloyd community members’ lives.

Go Lloyd participated in planning the event with Lloyd EcoDistrict and the Office of Civic Life. In true community spirit, many folks donated their time and resources to make the POP event come to life. Our event in Holladay Park functioned as the ‘kickoff’ to the City’s POP event series—look out for more POP events at parks around Portland in the next few weeks. As with all POP events, every element of the party was free to community members. All 18 of our vendors gave away exciting items, which ranged from popsicles to free trees! In addition, the event planning committee was able to provide 400 free hot dogs (grilled by volunteers), drinks, and chips to our guests.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us! We loved the connections we made and the fun energy of the event. Big thanks to the Lloyd EcoDistrict for making it all possible. We look forward to participating again next year.
