Come take in some river views, maybe see an osprey, and cool off at the splash pad. We’ll start out with a short streetcar ride south, and then hike the Eastbank Esplanade north, winding up at the splash pad at Holladay Park to play.
The walk will be led by Eve Nilenders, the pedestrian program manager at Go Lloyd, an organization dedicated to facilitating local transportation option. If you are a parent returning to work nearby or live in Lloyd, Eve is happy to talk about how Go Lloyd can offer help with options for commuting and/or getting around the neighborhood or how you can get involved in pedestrian and biking initiatives in the neighborhood.
The walk is also a great way for parents to find out Hike It Baby, a parents group dedicated to getting families together and out into nature with newborns and little ones. There are branches in over 250 cities around the country and internationally.
This is an adult-paced hike for carriers and strollers. (If taking a stroller, please note that there are some ramps involved, and you’ll have to be able to get your stroller on/off of transit.) We’ll depart at 10:20 sharp to catch the 10:28 streetcar at NE 7th and Holladay.
I will have free transit tickets for the first 20 people; please RSVP to ensure that you have priority. If more than 20 people show up and you haven’t RSVP’ed, you are responsible for purchasing your own ticket ($2 for adults, children 6 and under ride free).
Please note that this hike is basically a loop, although we will start off 4 blocks west of our final destination. If you haven’t hiked with Hike It Baby before, please be sure to sign the waiver on the Hike It Baby website.
