Know your rights and responsibilities on the road while bicycling. Bring your lunch and join us for a legal clinic by Thomas, Coon, Newton & Frost that covers Oregon bicycle laws, insurance information, and what to do if you’re in a crash.
Pedalpalooza 2019 is here!
Join the fun and take your bikes to the streets and show Portland (and the world) what bike fun means. Meet at The Fields Park at 3 PM and depart at 4 PM for a five mile, family-friendly cruise. Don't forget to dress yourself and your bike up.
Join Go Lloyd for a workshop taught by Tori Bortman of Gracie’s Wrench. This clinic covers what to do when the inevitable happens. It's a hands-on clinic full of leverage tips and tricks to make your way back on the road quickly and with ease. Bring your bike or your wheel to practice skills.
Join us at noon as we work to make Lloyd better for biking! To celebrate Bike Month, we’ll meet at Oregon Square. Bring your lunch or grab a snack at the Farmers Market, chat with Committee members, and learn about all of the bike events happening in Lloyd.
Riding your bike should be joyful, affirming, and a great way to get around town or exercise. It should not be a source of pain. Assuring not only that you have the right size bike, but that it fits to your unique body may bring new levels of happiness to your daily ride.
Join Mollie Futterman from Gladys Bikes for a brief presentation and discussion on bike fit.
Why is bike fit important?
•Avoid potential injuries or accommodate existing physical limitations
•Achieve more power and efficiency
The Bike More Challenge is a fun, free competition to encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to experience the joys and benefits of riding a bike firsthand. Log your trips, encourage friends and colleagues to join, and be entered to win great prizes all month long! Connect with The Street Trust for additional resources like Commute Clinics, or for help with questions.
Go Lloyd’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Committees join forces at the end of the year to celebrate our collective efforts and accomplishments. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting involved with either of our volunteer committees to come meet Go Lloyd staff and current committee members and enjoy some good food and beverages!
In partnership with The Street Trust, there will be an Oregon Friendly Driver Class held during lunch in the 3rd floor conference room of the Lloyd 700 Building.
The Oregon Friendly Driver program is a free 90-minute interactive class aimed at educating all drivers on the best and safest ways to share the road with people getting around on foot or by bike. These classes are taught by The Street Trust’s education staff and organized in partnership with Commute Options and the Lane Council of Governments. This class is based on the Bicycle Friendly Driver program developed by FC Bikes in collaboration with Bike Fort Collins.
The Oregon Friendly Driver class addresses:
• Why sharing the road is the safest alternative for both motorists and bicyclists
• What’s legal and what’s not legal for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians
• Common crashes and how to avoid them
• Why bicyclists “take the lane” and what motorists should do in response
• How to navigate bicycle and pedestrian related infrastructure such as: sharrows, bike boxes, green lanes, and rapid flashing beacons
Fenders make riding a breeze in the rainy Portland fall and winter. They protect your feet from falling rain, road slush, and oily spray, while your bike and accessories stay clean. This fall, get discounted fenders installed for free, thanks to Go Lloyd!
Each fender style ranges in size. You’ll need to know your wheel size, such as 26 inch or 700c, and the width of your tire to make sure the fenders are compatible. To find your tire size, look for two numbers on the sidewall of the tire (700 x 28, 26 x 1.5).
If your bike frame isn’t built to mount fenders, clip-on fenders will be your best option.
Need help on deciding which fenders are right for you? We can help! Go Lloyd and Left Coast Bicycles will provide free fender consultations on October 9th. Stop by the Lloyd Cycle Station from 9 am-5 pm or the Lloyd Farmers Market from 11 am-1 pm for a consultation. We’ll order discounted fenders for you, and help you schedule an appointment to have them installed for free.
Order your fenders by October 12th for free installation. Installation day is November 6th from 11 am-2 pm. Please pay for your fender order at Go Lloyd’s Transportation Store by November 5th.
The Lloyd Cycle Station is located on level P2 of the Lloyd 700 Building at 700 NE Multnomah St.
The Lloyd Farmers Market is located at Oregon Square just south of NE Holladay St between NE 7th Ave and NE 9th Ave.
