Kaiser Permanente Walks Their Talk

When Kaiser Permanente manager Flor Coronel was planning her team's weekly "check in" meeting, she took the suggestion of Go Lloyd Pedestrian Committee member Mark McClure and scheduled a walking meeting. It was not a sunny summer day but no one cared -- getting fresh air and seeing some new sights while discussing their projects was a refreshing change for the team.

Mark McClure and his Kaiser colleagues look at the Calaroga Terrace Inspiration Station during their walking meeting. Their stroll was guided by Go Lloyd's Hidden Lloyd walking map.

Coronel says, "As Kaiser Permanente employees, we should walk the talk and Thrive. Mark is our Wellness Champion and I wanted to support his idea. Also, I haven't been meeting my steps goal so walking meetings are a great way to achieve that. Using the Go Lloyd map was an added bonus because it made the walk a learning experience as well. It was nice to do something routine in a different environment."

McClure says, "The walk showed us that there are a lot of things we didn't know about the Lloyd District. The walking meeting was very fun -- if we could do a bike ride meeting, we would!"

The walk also reflected Kaiser Permanente's "Instant Recess" program which supports the vision and goal of their Healthy Workforce initiative.
