Christopher Montenaro lives across the block from his job. As a resident of Hassalo on Eighth, and Northwest Regional Director of Security for Kaiser Permanente, he's popped into the office at nine o'clock at night and at all times on weekends and marveled at the convenience of living so close to home. "I have a forty-five second commute," he says. "It makes up for what I experienced when I started working for the State of Oregon in Salem and commuted from Hillsboro. I drove an hour and twenty minutes one way -- three hours one way at rush hour sometimes."
"Some people say there's a downside to living so close to home but I haven't found it. One thing I love about Lloyd: Everything is close. Thanks to MAX, Portland Streetcar and the bus lines, you can get anywhere you want to go. There have been times when I haven't seen my car for two weeks because I chose to walk everywhere even though I have a bike. I walk to Buffalo Wild Wings on weekends to watch a game and shop at Safeway. My son is six years old and wants to go to Lloyd Center every weekend he's here. I love it!"
