Oregonians Crossing: Every Intersection is a Crosswalk

Pedestrian safety isn't just for those walking. The majority of pedestrian-involved motor vehicle crashes are a result of the failure of drivers to yield to the pedestrian as required by law. Under Oregon Law, there is a crosswalk at every intersection, whether that intersection is marked with a crosswalk or not. Drivers should stop, and stay stopped, until the person(s) walking has cleared the lane the driver is traveling in and the next lane over.Drivers are not allowed to pass another vehicle stopped a crosswalk. In fact, if a car is stopped at a crosswalk, it's a clue that they may be waiting for someone to cross.
